Betsy graduated Cum Laude from Western State College in Gunnison, Colorado with a Bachelor's degree in Business and completed one year of graduate courses with a 4.0 GPA in Criminal Justice from Washington State University. While in graduate school in Spokane, she trained to become a Court Appointed Special Advocate (C.A.S.A), during which time she investigated alleged child abuse cases.
Before her career as an investigator, Betsy owned and operated a consignment shop and launched a clothing design company called Rethreads utilizing second hand fabrics. Her designer vests and jackets were sold in Dallas, Chicago, Telluride and Aspen. During this same time, she also co-owned the first snowboard shop to be located on the ski slopes of Mt. Crested Butte.
After a successful 12-year run in retail, she sold the businesses and went on to write for an online magazine called Careerbay.com where she investigated employment related stories until the company went belly up during the dot com crash.
Betsy held an elected position as a steering committee member for a non-profit organization where she ran public information campaigns, organized conferences, designed and co-wrote newsletters and wrote for a weekly newspaper on water law and conservation.
PARALEGAL AND PRIVATE INVESTIGATION
After receiving an ABA approved paralegal certificate from Denver Career College, Betsy first began working for the Alternate Defense Counsel (ADC) of the State of Colorado as a contract paralegal and private investigator. In 2005, Betsy began working on Criminal Justice Act (CJA) cases where she was approved by the 10th Circuit Court to work as a private investigator for the defense on Federal cases.
Betsy has investigated a wide array of cases including: drug dealing, rape, murder, attempted murder, sexual assault of minors, immigration violations, domestic violence, ponzi schemes, fraud, land disputes, DRAM shop, hit-n-run, slip-n-falls, traffic accidents, missing person, and wrongful termination.
